Andrew Porter
Author of A Theory of Light and Matter

Andrew Porter is one of the best young American writers today. If you've not heard of him, that may have more to do with his chosen form, the short story, than with his skill as an author. Porter walks the most dangerous of territories – suburban longing and doubt – with some grace, some vulgarity. His stories have earned him a passel of awards and acclaim. He's a graduate of the Iowa Writer's Workshop and winner of a Pushcart Prize, a James Michener/Copernicus Fellowship, a nomination for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award and, most significantly, the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. About his work Marilynne Robinson writes “Andrew Porter has the kind of voice one can accept as universal—honest and grave, with transparency as its adornment." |

Benjamin Rosenbaum, author of The Ant King and Other Stories (Small Beer Press)
Jedediah Berry, author of The Manual of Detection (Penguin)
A postmodern assemblage of pulp and surreal fictions, Rosenbaum's debut features zeppelin pirates, an orange that rules the world, emancipated children's collectives, and other mind-bending ideas. Berry's debut novel, The Manual of Detection, is a darkly comedic mystery that has garnered comparisons to the work of Paul Auster and Franz Kafka.
