Voice of Witness presents Throwing Stones at the Moon: Narratives from Colombians Displaced by Violence
Many of today’s major human rights crises are chronicled only in oral history. Voice of Witness, a nonprofit book series co-founded by Dave Eggers, brings these stories to print.
Throwing Stones at the Moon: Narratives from Colombians Displaced by Violence, edited by Max Schoening and Sibylla Brodzinsky and with a foreword by Ingrid Betancourt, documents the lives of diverse Colombians who have been displaced by violence.
Former UN Under Secretary General and Envoy to Colombia Jan Egeland said of the book, “The truth about the endless violence that has driven four million Colombians from their homes is, beyond doubt, one of the greatest untold stories of our generation.”
Schoening, Brodzinsky, the photographer Stephen Ferry, and Christian Salazar, former Representative in Colombia of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, will join us for an evening of readings and discussion.
