Celebrate "Multiples," McSweeney's Issue 42
Join us for a launch party and mini-marathon reading to celebrate the launch of McSweeney's Quarterly, issue 42. Edited by novelist, Adam Thirlwell, the new issue is a monumental experiment in translated literature. New or little-known works by Kierkegaard, Enrique Vila-Matas, Krasznahorkai, et al., are each taken through six translators apiece, translated into English and then retranslated back out again (and again) to create altered, echoed and downright weird narratives by a dream collection of some of our finest writers.
With readings from contributors Alvaro Enrigue, Sheila Heti, Heidi Julavits, Julie Orringer, Andrew Sean Greer, Colm Toibin, Valeria Luiselli and John Wray.
There will be an after-party! Join us for continued conversation over cocktails at Pravda: 281 Lafayette St, following the reading, around 9 pm. Expect a Q&A with the contributors, a bit of literary trivia, and impromptu toasts.
